  • 6 hours workshop – 400pln
  • 12 hours workshop – 700pln

Remember that you can get everything 10% cheaper – with your Festival Pass.

How to read the difficulty levels:

  • Universal – workshop teaches you a skill not directly related to your improv level, though probably not for complete beginners
  • Beginner – you know a thing or two, but that’s it, you’re beginning your improv journey (or you want to remind yourself of the basics!)
  • Intermediate – you know your scenework and have worked for some time, yet it’s still a long road towards professional level
  • Advanced – you feel confident with your skills on stage and want to get more nuanced knowledge learning both from your teacher and from each other
  • Experienced – you are a skilled improviser who wants to hone their craft in a group of artists who probably won’t ask about the basics

This intensive masterclass explores a free-form approach to improvisation where structure is not predetermined but discovered in real time through ensemble awareness, pattern recognition, and momentum. Rather than relying on rigid formats, performers learn how emotion, behavior, and relationships naturally generate the next beat, scene, or transition—allowing the ensemble to create fast, connected, and dynamic work organically.

Through scenework, exercises, and guided ensemble play, participants will develop a shared performance language focused on trust, listening, adaptability, and “following the funny.” The workshop culminates in a live mixer performance where participants apply these concepts in front of an audience, creating a one-of-a-kind improvised show built entirely in the moment.

Improvising without a script is challenging, because we have no clue what will be important or not. The storyteller in us, though, should pretend they do!
In this workshop, we will learn to let go of wanting to plan ahead while doing narrative, but rather truly listening to the yummy details created in the spur of the moment, in order to be able to bringing them back later, in meaningful ways. We will challenge ourselves to create rich, specific scenework without obsessing about our ideas, and practice looking back on what was created as if it was scripted all along. Through step-by-step exercises, and loads of scenework and notes, you will re-discover the joy of being in the moment in a narrative, and of puzzling information after the fact.
Improvise your very own Chekhov’s Gun, and blow the audience’s mind away!

What happens when a body is slack, heavy, almost without life? And what happens when it’s stretched to the edge of intensity, as if the world might end with the next breath?
Between these extremes lie Jacques Lecoq’s 7 Levels of Tension – a foundational tool of physical theatre, a scale of states that can shape how we move, connect, and play on stage.
In this workshop we’ll dive into the levels and how they can transform a character, a relationship, or an entire scene. We’ll move between individual, pair, and ensemble exercises – practicing precision in the body,
experimenting with contrasts, and playing with transitions between levels, with attention to presence, rhythm, and clarity.

A mother’s love is incalculable, but starting today, the love between characters in a scene can be calculated.

If we find a common code of love and interest between a police officer and a prisoner, between a vendor and a supplier, we will know what the characters want, and even if we talk about other things, the audience will know what we are really talking about.

But… if we know how to love, can we show how much interest we have in our profession? Because of where we are? The answer is yes, it is exactly the same, and we are going to carry it out in this workshop.

Are emotion, relationship, and game truly different approaches to improvisation—or are they simply different ways of describing the same phenomenon? This workshop explores how emotional behavior naturally defines relationships, and how those relationships organically create comedic patterns and game.

Performers will learn how to stop “searching for the funny” and instead build scenes rooted in authentic emotional choices, active listening, and clear relational dynamics. By understanding the deep connection between these concepts, improvisers gain a practical and repeatable framework for creating scenes that are grounded, dynamic, and consistently engaging.

One of the most misused character types in improv is the child. In our attempt to connect with our inner child through playing adult make-believe, we seem to overcorrect and forget that children can be autonomous, intelligent, three-dimensional and fully-formed human beings who experience emotions and have opinions. This workshop will explore how we can play child characters of different ages and levels of independence.

You’ve always wondered how it is possible to give the feeling of a good fight, an epic chase or a slow-mo gravity-free earth saving mission? This workshop is made for you! During this workshop we will learn how to create epic situations and give them to an audience, how to make any situation feel like part of an action movie, and how staging and techniques are important in impro to re-create these on the spot. Based on a strong non-verbal work and techniques used in the international shows The Fraltons and Object of Affection, it will help you improve the use of your body on stage. Give your character some good action and become “The Greatest Hero of them all”!

True friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable.
In this workshop we will learn to harness the emotions that come with a simple gaze, a touch, or a movement. We will discover the beauty of silence, the power of a pause, and the impact of our position, distance and rhythm on the scene.
We’ll see how movement, whether fast or slow, can change the dynamics of a scene, create different moods and enhance the characters and the story and create emotionally rich and authentic performances.
We will push ourselves to be vulnerable and open, to take risks, and to trust in the power of silence. Oh, and we won’t forget to breathe.

In this workshop, we’ll use the Drama Triangle to create compelling scenes. This theory (originated by Stephen Karpman) describes three roles we can take on in a conflict: the victim, the persecutor, and the rescuer. These are roles we often unconsciously adopt in everyday life, and according to the theory, they are usually best avoided when trying to resolve conflict.
In daily life, we often suppress these tendencies. But here, you’re free to fully indulge in them: the the-whole-world-is-against-me victim, the everything-is-always-your-fault persecutor, and the let-me-fix-that-for-you rescuer.
You’ll gain insight into the patterns within conflict, learn how to consciously use them in improvisation to create dynamics that are genuinely interesting; and to let the conflict escalate completely out of control.

Impro has a magical, immersive and convergence-y quality that few other artforms can imitate. We not only see different worlds come to life, but quick shifts in perspective and impressive ways in which the improvisers blend the codes of theatre and film for their audience.

Some of the most fascinating ways in which we can tell our story is through simultaneous scenes; when it works, we see several improvisers performing different scenes seamlessly onstage at the same time, never missing an ounce of information while staying in their separate world.

But how can one initiate these complex scenes without them being mistaken for an edit or the entry of a new character? This workshop will unlock a whole new world of scenework; we will experiment with splitscreens, barndoor edits and a bunch of other funky parallel scenes in the process!

Hosting is an often overlooked skill that can set the tone for your show, positively or negatively. Whatever the show style and format, effectively hosting can lift it for an overall better experience. So taking time to reflect and sharpen those skills and feel confident to make the right hosting choices is immensely valuable. In this workshop, we’ll discuss what things need to be taken into consideration when preparing to host, practice finding voice and style and try out some presenting.

Physical workshop where we will work on physical actions and the drawing of spaces.

If we can do things instead of saying them, we will still have our voice available to talk about other things. Can we create the entire platform of a scene without talking and start using words without having to explain who we are, where we are, and what we are doing?

We will put a lot of emphasis on the fixed points and the different ways of simulating forces. Although they have the same measurement, lifting a tube with maps as an architect is not the same thing weight wise, as a worker mobilising a steel bar in a metallurgy. Raising water from a well is not the same thing as being a firefighter and having to pull with a rope a couple of tourists that got trapped at the bottom of a cave.

Our budget for scenery in improvisation theatre is infinite, and we just have to know how to manage it.

TEACHER BIOS

Will Luera

Will Luera is an internationally recognized improviser, director, and teacher who has performed and taught across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. He is the Executive Director of Lifeline Productions, Director of Big Bang Improv, and Artistic Director Emeritus of ImprovBoston. His work focuses on free-form improvisation, ensemble connection, and the relationship between emotion, behavior, and comedy, helping performers build dynamic, unscripted work rooted in trust and discovery.

Kelly Agathos
Kelly discovered improvisation in 2010 and instantly fell in love with the art form. She is one of the pioneers of anglophone improvisation in Brussels, co-founding 'ATC Improv’ and 'The Ghost Sheep’ in 2012. In 2017, after years participating in improv festivals and traveling the globe to be taught by world renown improvisers, Kelly created ImproBubble. The aim of ImproBubble is to deepen, broaden and professionalise the range of improv opportunities and training available to Brussels based improvisers. Kelly is the company’s current Artistic Director. Kelly regularly performs in ImproBubble’s professional productions and with her bilingual (French-English) trio, Jeu de Balle. She is the curator and producer of anglophone shows at l’Improviste, Belgium’s only theatre dedicated solely to improvisation. She is also the co- founder, host and director of ‘The Schuman Show’ a European late-night-meets-SNL comedy show which marries sketch comedy, stand up and improv. Kelly also teaches, directs and performs throughout Europe, both as an invited guest and on the international improv festival circuit. She is a proud member of Project Eve; a pan European collective of female improvisers, dedicated to exploring gender on and off stage. As a language lover, Kelly relishes improvising in all her spoken languages, which to date are English, Greek and French. Her Italian is also abbastanza decente.

Gael Doorneweerd-Perry

Gael has been doing improv for over 15 years, starting in Strasbourg and now in Amsterdam. He’s the co-founder of Flock Theatre, Anananas & Pampamplemousse (formerly La Carpe Haute), the SIN (a network of improvisers across Europe), and Safe Play, a community focused on creating a safer improv environment. After leading IMPRO Amsterdam, he’s now the co-Artistic Director of Improfestival Karlsruhe and the Flock Festival in Amsterdam.
Gael loves teaching and performing around the world, often with his partner on and off stage, Laura Doorneweerd-Perry. They toured with their show „Object of Affection” before settling in Amsterdam to launch Flock Theatre, where they produce unscripted theatre and collaborate with other artists.
His latest projects include fun and unique duo shows with Diego Ingold, Inbal Lori, and Katy Schutte. Gael’s improv style is playful and heartfelt, blending physicality, kindness, and a dash of craziness.

Liron Barre
Liron Barre is an improviser, clown, performer, actor, and teacher who blends clowning, physical theater, performance art, and dance to enrich her impro work. She is the co-founder and co-artistic director of ImPresent – impro & clown, a team member of Ithaca Improv Festival (Athens), and an actor and teacher at Flock Theatre (Amsterdam). She has also been a guest teacher at ImproSynthesis (Athens), and has taught and performed in festivals and local communities across Europe and Japan. Her diverse background supports her stage presence and deepens her connection to the body and physical expression. Over her impro journey, she has been part of ensembles and shows such as Woman Up, Drunk Classics, and The Silent Movie. Her teaching style is energetic and supportive, and she enjoys sharing these approaches in her classes. When she’s not on stage, she’s likely swing dancing or talking about cats.

Ignacio Grinstein
Ignacio Grinstein is an Argentinian actor, improviser, and clown with over 15 years of experience in physical theater, masks, and various acting techniques studied across Argentina, Israel, Italy, and Colombia. An international performer and teacher, he has taught in over 20 cities globally. Currently, he is a member of Typical Adult Behavior and TBC Spain based in Barcelona, and tours with his duo ImPresent. His approach blends playful spontaneity with emotional honesty, encouraging performers to bring authenticity, connection, and joy to the stage.

Nora McLeese
Nora McLeese is a Dutch-American improv performer, teacher, host and producer based in Amsterdam. She started improvising in youth theatre sports leagues, and after a spell away from performing, she reconnected with improv in 2013 and hasn’t looked back since. Nora has trained at leading theatres in London, Chicago, Austin and Amsterdam. She co-founded Tag Out Theatre (currently on hiatus) and is the Chief of Show (artistic director) of easylaughs, one of Amsterdam’s foundational improv theatres. She thrives in the space between theory and silly, and her deepest wish is to one day perform a perfect two-person La Ronde.

Jenny Hasenack
Jenny Hasenack is an improv teacher, actress, and presentation coach. Originally, she was a chemist, but she quickly discovered that connections between people are just as fascinating as those between atoms. Nowadays, you can find her anywhere science, improv and communication intersect. As a teacher, she aims to get players out of their heads and into genuine connection with each other. By letting go of the pressure to be funny or to construct a narrative, the fun and the stories emerge naturally on their own.
